On April 19, Mandela Macame and Carlos Chongo participated in a Chinese traditional culture interactive activity held by the School of Artificial Intelligence (SAI).

Mandela and Carlos are two international students from College of International Education. They are both from Mozambique, studying in Shenyang University of Technology (SUT) for approximate four months with  a strong interest in Chinese culture.

The activity was about artwork of Chinese traditional craftsmanship, such as classical fans, seal engraving, paper cutting, etc. Faculty and students from SAI shared the profound meaning of traditional craftsmanship with the international students. It helped the international students understand the broad and profound traditional Chinese culture better.

During the activity, Macame and Carlos immersed themselves into the production of traditional Chinese crafts such as paper cutting, lacquer fan making and painting facial makeup.  

Mandela Macame expressed his opinion during the activity that it was his honor to participate in the cultural interactive activity, which was not only an appreciation of the noble art of China, but also an experience that makes them closely connected with traditional Chinese culture. He hoped that international students can have more opportunities to communicate and learn with local students in the future.

Every participant in the activity was in an active mood. No matter where they were from, participants helped each other in the process of hand-made crafts. Among which, international students had a friendly but also knowledgeable experience.

Besides students and faculty of class 2023, there are also administrators from SAI participated actively in the activity: Yu Yajie, secretary of the Youth League Committee and Director of the Student Work Office of the SAI; Hao Dezhi, advisor of Industrial Intelligence Class 2302; Sun Xuerong, deputy Secretary of the Youth League Committee.

This activity was successfully held by SAI. By immersed themselves into the cultural activity, international students experienced the charm of Chinese traditional artwork, as well as the spirits of single-mindedness of craftsman. Most importantly, they were fond of the interaction with local students, enriched the connotation of the new era of Chinese and foreign cultural interaction.
